Frances Buksas, 98, of Springfield, MO, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at St. John's Mercy Villa. Frances was born in Paris, AR, on October 10, 1912, to Henry and Mary (Schmalz) Jasper. She was united in marriage to Joseph Buksas in 1954 in Waukegan, IL and lived there much of her life. Frances was a homemaker, but also worked a number of years at Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago, IL. She was also a former member of Immaculate Conception Church in Waukegan where she faithfully served the Altar and Rosary Society in various capacities. Frances was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph; one brother, Tony, of Ft. Smith, AR; and three sisters: Lucille McElhannon, Paris AR, Marie Van den Hoek, Corpus Christi, TX, and Katie Eckart, Norman, OK. She is survived by her long time caregiver son, Nick, of Springfield, in additional to one brother, Mr. Eugene Jasper, of Harrison, AR, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Frances was an avid euchre player and enjoyed many a back yard "beer bust" with her numerous card playing friends and neighbors. She possessed keen wit, a pleasant smile, a sweet and gracious disposition and a very fervent Christian faith. Before relocating to Springfield in 1993, she resided in Ft. Smith, AR, for several years. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. , Saturday, July 16, 2011 in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2818 E. Bennett St., Springfield, MO with future interment at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, IL. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. John's Hospice, or The Kitchen Ministries. A special "thank you" to the personnel of Mercy Villa's Faith and Hope units, who skillfully provided Frances with special care this past year.
