Obituary

Frances Lorene (Herr) Berg was born in Humboldt, Nebraska on January 10, 1923 to Gustave and Laura (Sandfort) Herr.  She graduated as valadictorian of her high school class in 1940 and went on to attend college at Nebraska Wesleyan University along with Bryan Memorial Hospital School of Nursing graduating as valadictorian in 1948.  Following her RN training, she worked in a private doctor's office where she met her future husband, Mark Berg.  They married on September 7, 1952 and had two sons and one daughter. They moved to Rolla, Missouri in 1959 where they raised their family and Frances worked as a night nurse at the University of MO-Rolla student health center for many years.  Following retirement, Frances and Mark moved to Springfield, MO and were members of Campbell United Methodist church where they were active in the 101 class and Frances sang in the choir for many years. In her later years, she lived at both The Montclair and The Fremont Senior communities where she made cherished friends and loved to entertain the residents and staff with a good joke.

Family and her faith in Jesus Christ were always most important to Frances.  She was also an accomplished artist and quilter and loved homemaking and cooking.

Frances passed away on March 12, 2020.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark, of 63 years, her parents, four brothers, and two sisters. She is survived by her three children: Stuart (Sheryl) Berg, Eric (Deb) Berg, and Janet (Brent) Doss; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren: Garret and Kati Berg (Davis, Cameron), Grant Berg, Greg and Caroline Berg Mozara (Trace), Rachel Berg (Monshanae, MacKenzie), Laura Berg, Scott Berg, Kevin Berg, Tyler Doss, Connor and Cassie Doss (Corbin, Mason), and Mallory Doss.

Frances was the epitome of the Proverbs 31 woman and will be greatly missed:

"She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her".
