Obituary

Floyd O. Tucker went to meet his Maker on Dec. 7, 2015 at 10:45 pm at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon, MO. He was born to Oliver and Ardelia Tucker in Cassville, MO.
He graduated from Cassville High School in May 1949. Floyd enlisted in the United States Air Force on November 29, 1950 and was discharged on November 28, 1954 as airman first class. He qualified for a National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United States Service Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal. He was stationed in Korea for one year.
He worked his entire career with Empire Bank except for a short period of time when he was president at First City Bank, now UMB. Floyd taught hundreds of Southwest Missouri bankers the principles of Banking through AIB/CFT classes and was recognized as an expert on Negotiable Instruments in Southwest Missouri. He was proud of his 1948 Cassville Wildcat Marble Bowl Championship team. He always enjoyed his conversations with lifelong friend and teacher John Q. Hammons.
He is survived by his wife Shirley of 55 years; son Bryan and wife Rachel; daughter Karen Brown; four grandsons, Levi and Noah Tucker, Joshua Logan, and Kiel Brown; brother Jack Tucker; sister-in-law Sharon Garrett and husband Bill; three nieces and two nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 3 pm on Friday, Dec. 11, 2015 at Hazelwood Cemetery under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the Missouri Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon, or the Disabled American Veterans. A special thanks to the nurses and care givers at the Missouri Veterans Home.
