Florence M. Hayes, age 85, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, July 30, 2O13 in Magnolia Square Nursing Home surrounded by her family. Florence was born to William Card and Helen Stone (Reed) on March 2, 1928 in Springfield, MO. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leo H. Hayes, and a sister Catherine Weckel. Florence is survived by two daughters, Nancy Zerr and husband Peter and Julia Gerhardt; three grandchildren, Alicia Gerhardt and her significant other, Tim Ware, Sally Moffatt and her significant other, Troy Breshears, and Kyle Gerhardt; great-grandchildren, Taylan Gerhardt, Abriana Gerhardt Wells, Annabelle Gerhardt, Landon Gerhardt, Nicholas Hayes Breshears; her sister, Rosemary Height Oetinger; three nieces, Sarah Stokes, Cynthia Schrock and Valerie Michael; and many more extended family members. She was a graduate of Drury University where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She was a past member of James River Assembly Church, Ozark, MO and previous member of the Twentieth Century Art Group. Florence's faith in God was pinnacle in her daily life. She was a strong Christian woman who prayed for many, including friends, family and strangers alike, touching countless lives through ministry, showing each the road to Salvation. Throughout her life she was a member of the Stevens Ministries Group and often ministered to the shut in. Graveside services for Florence will be Friday, August 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Maple Park Cemetery, with Chaplain Bill Schouten officiating, under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. No formal visitation is planned, however, friends may visit after 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
