Florence Pearl Bench Florence Pearl Bench, 101, departed this life on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 2:40 a.m., bound for her Heavenly home where she will join her family and friends who have gone before her. She was born to Marc and Rushie Bench, on January 13, 1909, in Rogersville, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as two brothers, Tom and Cy Bench, and three sisters, Esther Bench Giboney, Mabel Bench Bayless and Hazel Bench Lewis. She was a charter member of Berean Baptist Church, Springfield. She was an active member of the church until her death and enjoyed numerous friendships with members of the congregation, especially those of her Golden Ager's Group, led by Fred and Sharon Reamsnider. Florence worked at the YWCA for 21 years and retired from Lily-Tulip after 17 years. She is survived by four nephews, Ron Bench, Rogersville; Dan Bench, Camdenton; Marc Lewis, Olathe, Kan.; and Walter Bayless, Kansas City; three nieces, Susan Springer, Valley Falls, Kansas; Nina Garnett, Jefferson City; and Anita Emory, Memphis, Tenn.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews, and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2010 in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with the Brothers Fred Reamsnider and Jeffrey Ables officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:30 p.m. until service time Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Berean Baptist Missions Fund.
