Fern S. "Dinah" Rhodes, 89, Springfield, closed her beautiful blue eyes and passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 in her home.  She was born March 3, 1927 in Marshfield, MO.

She is survived by her husband of 70 remarkable years, William M. Rhodes, Sr.; son, William M. Rhodes, Jr. and wife Darlene of Ozark, MO; son, Larry L. Rhodes and wife Margaret of Ozark, MO; son, Gary L. Rhodes of Los Angeles, CA; son, Kevin S. Rhodes of Springfield, MO; and her sisters, Genevieve Brookshier and Mildred DeGood of Springfield.  The family would like to thank Fern's wonderful group of friends and the staff at Integrity Home Hospice for all the love and support they have provided.

Fern will be remembered and celebrated in our hearts for her impish and mischievous grin and grand sense of humor. Whether she was shouting "shut up" at the bingo hall so she could concentrate on a win or making her famous fudge or divinity in the kitchen asking you to "just get out the way and let me take care of it", she was always fun, always smiling, even when there was nothing to smile about.  She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, theatre and watching "Wheel of Fortune". Her favorite color was pink.

Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2016, in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with funeral services following at 11:30 a.m. and burial at 1pm at Missouri Veteran's Cemetery.
