Faye Bateman, 87 of Springfield, MO passed away on January 20, 2011. Faye was the daughter of Ward and Dorothy (Towner) Taylor. She was born in the farm home of her paternal grandparents north of Morris, MN on April 3, 1923. She grew up in Stevens County and started school at Rural District #44 and later attended Alberta High School. Faye was united in marriage to Ray Benkowski on February 21, 1941. They farmed in Minnesota until November of 1959 when they moved to Stockton, CA. Ray died October 25, 1963. Faye was married to Joseph Bateman on July 12, 1975. He passed away September 3, 1981. Faye is survived by two sons and three daughters; Jerry Benkowski, Richard Benkowski, Priscilla (Mabra) Gill, Linda Brewer and Betty Kay (Rex) Moye; ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one sister, Carol Berger of Morris, MN. She was preceded in death by one son, Dennis. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 21 in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in San Pablo, CA.
