Fay Ollis died April 7, 2026 in Springfield, Missouri.
She was born in Springfield, Missouri on June 9, 1934. Her Mother was Frances Baggett Bartlett and her Father was Benjamin Allen Bartlett. Fay later added the name of her step-father, Vincent Vandivort.
Fay graduated from Greenwood High School in Springfield in 1952 and attended Drury College in Springfield for two years. She received her Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from the University of Arkansas in 1956 and received her certification as a Registered Dietitian in 1957 from Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
Her work experience included the Deaconess Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, Servend Food Services in Boston, St. John’s Hospital in Springfield and the US Medical Center in Springfield.
Fay was proud to be a member of the Community Service League of Springfield and as its president, helped the League gain International Junior League membership. She also participated as a member of the Drury Women’s Auxiliary, the Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Club and member of the first Board of Directors of the Community Foundation of the Ozarks. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.
Besides her parents, Fay was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Charles Baggett and his wife Lura Williams Baggett; her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bartlett; her maternal aunt and uncle, John and Charlene Baggett Playter; brothers-in-law James Alfred Ollis and his wife Charlotte Southerland Ollis, Joseph Dudley Ollis and his wife Judy Johnson Ollis, and Larry Hamilton.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence M. Ollis; maternal cousins Jane Playter Weiler and her husband Joseph and their children Joseph and his wife Cassie and their daughters Alexandra, Josie and Hannah Korbe and her husband Paul and their children Thomas and Trenton; Phyllis Playter Hamilton and her son Michael Rumsey. Her extended Ollis family consists of her niece Jacqueline McIntosh and her husband Greg and their children Blake and his wife Elizabeth and their daughter Kelcie; and daughter Brooke Mills and her husband Ryan; nephew Christopher Ollis and his wife Jessica and their sons Fletcher and Campbell, and nephew Matthew Rodney.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at 1:00 PM at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 513 E. Division, Springfield, MO. Burial will follow in Maple Park Cemetery, 300 E. Grand St.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Springfield Little Theatre, 311 E. Walnut, Springfield, MO 65806 or to the Endowment Fund at the Junior League of Springfield, MO, 1740 S Glenstone Ave, Suite R, Springfield, MO 65804.
