Farrel Gene
Wade
November 27, 1936 – March 18, 2026
Farrel Gene Wade was born on November 27, 1936, to Ross Wade and Edith (Banks) Wade in Washburn, MO. He entered into the presence of his savior, Jesus Christ, on March 18, 2026, at his home in Springfield, MO. He was raised on Trent Creek in a time when hard work was a way of life. He graduated from Southwest High School in 1955. He moved to Wichita, KS, where he reconnected with a former classmate, Pattie Houston. They were married on December 12, 1958. They moved to Fort Leonard Wood where he was stationed in the Army. While there, they welcomed their first daughter, Tammie. After his service ended, they returned to Wichita and welcomed their second daughter, Tonya. The couple then relocated to Springfield, MO, where he worked at City Utilities in the Gas Department, and they welcomed their third child, a son, Tracy. He retired in 1998 after 32 years of service. Farrel came to know Jesus as his savior in 1977 while attending Mentor Baptist Church. He later attended Crossway Baptist Church, where he made lifelong friendships. Over the years he enjoyed coon hunting, traveling through the US and abroad, participating in mission trips to Haiti and the Navajo Reservation in Gallup, NM, attending Brumley Gospel Singings, and restoring classic cars. In his later years he enjoyed working at the family farm and raising his goats. He faithfully served the Lord, his family, and selflessly served others. He made friends everywhere he went, and to know him was to love him.
Farrel is survived by his sister, Geraldine Pendergraft; two daughters, Tammie Doran of Nixa and Tonya Elwood of Springfield; a son, Tracy Wade (Tracey) of Rogersville; two granddaughters, Carly Thomas (Taryn) of Nixa, and Taylor Orr (Chaseten) of Fort Gibson, OK; one great-grandson, Haiden Thomas; two great-granddaughters, Jenna Thomas and Kyndal Orr; plus three bonus grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pattie; a stillborn son, Rocky; his parents; brother-in-law, Harvey Pendergraft; son-in-law, Jeffrey Doran; and niece, Wilma Epps.
