F. John Evangelista, 94, of Springfield passed away Saturday, January 28, 2012. He was born June 30, 1917 in Greenwich, NJ. He was married for over 60 years to his wife, Camille, who preceded him in death. John served honorably in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. He had a successful career with Chevron oil. At the time of his passing, he was a resident at Culpepper Place in Springfield. John held a lifelong faith in Jesus Christ. He is survived by his sister, Viola Evangelista of Springfield; his niece, Ruth Donadio of Springfield; and his nephews, Pete Spuler of Washington, D.C. and Mark Spuler of New Jersey. Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 10 a.m. today in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
