Evelyn R. Silver, 81, Springfield, passed away Friday, July 22, 2022 in Quail Creek.  She was born May 26, 1941 in Pollocksville, NC, the daughter of Leslie Haywood and Agnes (Coston) Rouse.  Evelyn was co-owner of Silver Sweepers with her husband.

Evelyn once stated that the most important things in her life were her family, friends, sports and being a greeter at her church that she loved.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by both her husbands, Leslie E. Mills, Jr. and Larry Davis Silver; her daughter, Barbara Gail Mills; brother, Leslie H. Rouse; and sister and brother-in-law, Betty R. and Vernon Bowen, and her great-granddaughter; Ryleigh Jo Glenn.

Evelyn is survived by her son, Leslie E. Mills, III; daughter, Karen L. (Bruce) Houk; sister-in-law, Vella Rouse; six grandchildren, Jennifer Christy (Keith) Schmuck, Leslie E. Mills VI, Mackenzie Lee Mills, Madison Lauren Mills, Jaclyn C. Glenn and Jessica L. Marshall; six great-grandchildren, Kyle Dalton Schmuck, Teresa Schmuck, Henry Allen Marshall, Haddie Lynn Marshall, Agnes Lynn Marshall, Raylen Daniel Glenn; two great-great-grandchildren, Lane Schmuck and Isabelle Schmuck; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2022 in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
