Obituary

Evans Emerson Arndt was born September 17, 1936, in Sioux City, Iowa and passed May 6, 2023 in Springfield, Missouri. His parents were Sydney Arndt and Katherine Myrtle Williams Arndt. He had two brothers and a sister that predeceased him: Sydney Arndt, Jr., Eddie Arndt and Cheryl Arndt.

Evans was a top football player at Central High School in Springfield, MO. The crowd would stomp their feet and cheer "Let's go Arndt!" as he made the winning play. In 1956, he married his high school sweetheart, Doris Butcher. Later, Evans continued his education at Moorpark College, in Moorpark, California.

Upon graduating high school, Evans enlisted for four years in the U.S. Navy. There he ran the turbines and did shore patrol duty. He had the opportunity to travel the world to France and Brazil. Evans also crossed the equator and became a Shell Back to which he was very proud.

Evans was also very talented and loved music. He learned to play the harmonica at a young age. He also enjoyed dancing. Evans once won a dance contest at the Hollywood Bowl. He was also a talented artist. Evans was a Disney Animator for Walt Disney drawing animations of the Lady and the Tramp. He also created his own line of animated characters he titled Altered Egos.

Among the many hats Evans wore, he worked at Atomics International as metallurgist, a real estate executive and director over multiple apartment complexes and owned his own construction business, The Ole Colonia Company.

Evans was a devout Christian. He was also very humorous and loved telling jokes. He used to say he didn't want anyone to die from a "Lack of Levity." He was also kind, generous and would literally give someone the shirt off his back.

Evans is survived by his wife, Doris Arndt; his son, Timothy Arndt and his wife Jolyn Arndt with their daughter, Nicole Arndt. He is also survived by his daughter, Tonia Murph and her husband Thomas Murph with their children Stephen Murph, Elizabeth Boyd and husband Gage Boyd with their son, Parker Boyd.

A private family service will be held at their home.
