My name is Eugene H. Lampe and I was born on July 23, 1930 to Grover and Nelle Marie Lampe, in Springfield, MO. I left my body at 1:00 PM on the first day of Spring - March 20, 2014. I attended St. Agnes High School and graduated from Missouri State University. One and one half years before being called into active duty serving in the U.S. Navy I attended University of Missouri Law School. I served in the Navy as an Assistant Navigator and Law Officer aboard a heavy cruiser. I later retired as Lt. Commander. I married Wanda Lampe in 1968 and moved to Arizona where we lived for 40 years participating in community work and volunteering at the local hospital. During that time we wrote and published several children's books. I am survived by: my soul mate and loving wife, Wanda (Watts) Lampe, always by my side throughout our 45 years of marriage; my daughter, Perri Lind Lampe, Prairie Village, Kansas - a blessing to have in my life; my granddaughter Duri Lampe Long, now attending the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill (she is beautiful both inside and out); my incredible Aunt Mildred Lampe (100 years old in a month) and her wonderful family; John William Lampe, his wife Jennifer and their family; Lea Ann Sawyer, her husband Floyd and son Blake; and Herman Gann, husband of my late niece, Kathy (what a pleasure to have had his family in my life). I am also survived by a special person, my cousin, Jill Gifford who made me happy with her fun visits and good advice; and by many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends. To my Monday morning coffee group, Kimberly, John, Herman and Judy - I am saving a table for you. In lieu of flowers, donations to Springfield Salvation Army. Services will be held by the family at Campbell United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM on March 28, 2014 and interment at 1:00 PM at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery.
