IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ethelyn Jean
Fox Short
January 22, 1937 – August 19, 2021
Ethelyn Jean Fox Short, 84, of Ozark, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at The Manor at Elfindale with her family by her side.
Jean was born in Ponce de Leon, Missouri, on January 22, 1937, to George and Sarah Fox. She graduated from Galena High School.
Jean will be lovingly remembered by her partner of 26 years, Joe Kyger; her grandsons, Skylar Short, Danan Short, and Mackie Short; her seven great-grandchildren; her sisters, Clara Belle Keithley, Betty Richardson, and Ruth Hemphill; and several nieces and nephews. She was also beloved by her partner's family, who called her Mama Jean.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Richard Alvin Short; her two sons, Gregory Short and Mitchell Short; and her siblings, Jessie Marie Barton, Ray Fox, Dorotha Gray, and Billy Andoe.
Jean traveled the world supporting her husband's career in the military and with McDonell Douglas and Boeing. Many of the accessories in her home celebrate her interest in those diverse local cultures. In later years, she worked in the Branson Music Scene at the Wayne Newton Theater. She enjoyed wintering in Texas with their RV, square dancing, boating, and cuddling with their dogs, Izzie and Angel.
A Celebration of Jean's Life, officiated by her nephew, Reverend Danny Fox, will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 2:00 PM, at the Galena Cemetery. Lawn chairs are advised for those who need additional support. Family and friends will gather after the service at Flat Creek Restaurant in Cape Fair.
