Deragowski

Ethel Deragowski of Springfield, MO passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at home with her family. She was born February 25, 1938 in Thomaston, Georgia to J.C. and Mitty Carpenter.
Ethel was the first female Engineer ever hired by the Springfield Public Works Department. She was a wonderful wife and loving mother. Ethel was an excellent interior decorator. She had a hobby of collecting Barbie Dolls, Nutcrackers and owls. Ethel was a fine guitar player and singer of country ballads and did a wonderful job of harmonizing with her husband.
She was preceded in death by her son Scott Deragowski; five brothers Frank, Willard, Leon, Earl and Joe Carpenter; two sisters Doris Green and Florence O'Neal; eight brothers-in-law and ten sisters-in-law.
Ethel is survived by her husband of 58 years, John Deragowski; son Wayde Deragowski, of Springfield; five grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; and 38 nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017 at St. Agnes Cathedral. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2017 in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Compassus, 1465 E. Primrose St., Springfield, MO 65804.
