Ervil James Climer, 94, died on November 4, 2023. He was born on October 6. 1929 to Theodore Roosevelt Climer and Nellie Angeline Jinks in Grovespring Missouri.
He was drafted into the United States Army in 1951 and served in Korea with Company L, 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment. After he was discharged from the Army he returned to Missouri. He married Mildred Bethine Morgan on May 17, 1953. They eventually moved to Springfield Missouri and have been residents in Springfield since.
Ervil had a long successful career as an autobody repairman and owned Dodson and Williams Automotive in Springfield Missouri until he retired in 1991. He was known for his strong work ethic and providing quality services to customers and training for his employees for the same.
He had a passion for the outdoors. He loved to garden and was well known for his tomato crop every year. The best in the region. He enjoyed hunting and raising cattle on the family farm, but perhaps his greatest pastime was fishing. He was an amazing fisherman and fished the lakes and rivers in Missouri his whole life.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mildred, daughters Marjorie (Farabee) Blodgett (Mike), Janette DeGood; grandsons Michael and Andrew Farabee, Alex and Adam DeGood; great grandchildren Landon, Mason, Mia and Marcus Farabee, along with sister in laws and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Nellie; brothers Paul, Dean and Gerald; son in law Michael David Farabee, and several brother and sister in laws, nieces and nephews.
Ervil was a force in all our lives in so many ways. He was loved. The memories we have are many and he will never be forgotten.
Private family services will be held at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
