Eric Guinn Lewellen was born on August 11, 1975, in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Waymon Lee Lewellen and Brenda Joy Guinn Lewellen. He departed this life on January 18th, 2022, at the age of 46 years, and 5 months in Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri after a long illness.
Eric was a graduate of Kickapoo High School Class of 1994 in Springfield, Missouri. He later attended Ozarks Technical Community College. He was one of the first door greeters for Wal-Mart #2221 Supercenter in Springfield, Missouri, where he met his love, Amy Dawn Gregory Lewellen. The two were married on January 1 st , 2000 and spent the next 22 years living in and around the Springfield area. They raised their pride and joy a son, Simon James Lewellen. Eric later spent 14 years working for Cox Health Systems in a multitude of roles, but most recently he worked at Cox North Hospital in the Telecommunications Department.
Eric's unique attitude and joy for life was contagious. His smile and laughter are two of his most memorable traits that along with his love of all things outdoors whether it be hunting, fishing or sports. He was known for his ability to "Call the Hogs!" and when college football season was over then it was onto being a Dallas Cowboys fan. It was always a house divided when his Cowboys played Amy's Chiefs. The one sport they could agree on was NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Dale Jr. With the help of one of their friends, Amy was able to fulfill one of Eric's bucket list items to go to a NASCAR race at Kansas Speedway.
Eric got his love of the outdoors from his dad and brother with whom he spent many nights hunting on the family farm or the days fishing at one of their many favorite spots. In turn, he passed these loves onto his son and favorite nephews, Wyatt and Sam. His personality allowed him to make friends wherever he went no matter the situation. He had his buddies, Donnie Ragland and Shane Edwards, to create mischief and mayhem while Donnie's wife, Misty was always tagging along to bail them out of trouble even when that trouble included a rolled over four-wheeler. He also had his little sister, Chris McNeal, to bicker with as if they truly were siblings.
Eric professed his love of Christ and was a member of South Haven Baptist Church, Springfield, Missouri. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Walter Lee and Lucy Lewellen, his maternal grandparents, Lenus and Audie Guinn and his father, Waymon Lee Lewellen.
He is survived by his love and wife, Amy, of the home, his son, Simon James Lewellen, Springfield, Missouri, his mother, Brenda Lewellen, Springfield, Missouri, one brother, Wade Lewellen, Springfield, Missouri and his two favorite hunting partners and nephews, Wyatt and Sam Lewellen. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Joan Meigs, sister-in-law, Jill Furgason (Don) of Hartville, Missouri, his brother-in-law, Keith Gregory (Barbara) of Bentonville, Arkansas, his brother-in-law, Kevin Gregory (Lisa) Fredericksburg, Virginia and sister-in-law, Lisa Tiller (Jeff) Tulsa, Oklahoma, as well as a multitude of nephews, nieces and cousins. He is also survived by a special uncle and aunt, Richard and Julia Johnson, Germantown, Tennessee and his favorite cousin, "his Lori-girl" Lori Hilton (Alastair) Oak Park, Illinois.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 22, 2022 at South Haven Baptist Church. Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 AM in the church.
