Emily Grace Barr, 87, of Springfield, Missouri passed away on May 21, 2013. She was born March 4, 1926 to Charles and Maye Mary Davis, one of five children. She attended Joplin public schools and was a graduate of Joplin High School. She attended St. John's School of Nursing in Joplin, graduating as a Cadet Nurse. Emily married Bob Barr in 1948. They lived in Fort Smith, Ark., Lamar, MO., Wichita, KS., Sedalia, MO., and Raytown, MO., before moving to Springfield in 1967. Emily was a past president and co-founder of Ozark Genealogical Society, delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1988 in New Orleans and a lifelong Southern Baptist. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Clara Williams, and brothers Donald and Arthur Davis. She is survived by her husband, Bob Barr; son, Bob Barr and wife Cindy, Gretna, LA; daughter, Susan Barr, Springfield, MO; sister, Ruby Kesner, Plano, TX; and two grandsons, Bob Barr III and Spenser Barr. Visitation will be Saturday, May 25, 2013, 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be Sunday, May 26, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with burial in Stoutland Cemetery, Stoutland, Missouri.
