Elsie Ellen Plimmer passed away December 20, 2015. She was born in Wichita Falls, TX, on March 1, 1918. Three years later her parents, Mr. and Mrs. RE Thornburgh moved their young family to Springfield where her father worked in their family business, Sigler Drug Company.   Elsie graduated from Drury College at age 19, where she studied English and Economics. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority.   In 1942, Elsie married Ralph Coleman Plimmer, owner of Plimmer's Dry Goods in downtown Springfield. She worked during World War II for American Red Cross as one of the "Gray Ladies " and later did weekly work with American Red Cross and the Springfield City Clinic in Burge Hospital. She loved participating in The Women's Golf Association at Hickory Hills Country Club, and she frequently met her friends for games of bridge. Mr. Plimmer passed away in 1980, and Elsie remained in Springfield, but still maintained her home in Highland Beach, FL.   She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Robert and Una Sigler Thornburgh; and one sister, Bobby Sue Cantrell. Elsie is survived by her daughter, Pamela Budzinsky of Highland Beach, FL; and two granddaughters, Natalie Budzinsky Connelly of New York City and Andrea Budzinsky Garvey of Davidsonville, MD. Mrs. Plimmer loved looking at pictures of her four great-grandchildren: John Alexander, Henry Coleman, Magnus Francis and Madeline Grace Garvey.   Her family is especially grateful for the love and care given to her by the staff of Elfindale Manor during the last 5 years of her life.   Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Hazelwood Cemetery, under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be made in her memory to American Red Cross, or any Wounded Warrior Projects.
