Elmer Roy Moore, passed on February 23, 2024, at the age of 95.
Born on September 12, 1928, Elmer is survived by his of wife 68 years, Marilyn Moore, two children, Bruce Moore (Patti) and Karen Merkle (Jim), four grandchildren (Mari, Nikki, Eric & Jenny), and one great-grandchild (Sophie).
Originally from Dearborn, Michigan, the son of Edith and S. Elmer Moore, and brother to Martha Belanger (spouse Tim Belanger.) Elmer worked as a Mechanical Engineer for the Tank and Automotive Command in Warren, Michigan. At the time of his retirement, following 35 years of service, he was the highest-ranking civilian in the US Tank Command with specific efforts in the General Sheridan and various military transport vehicles.
Elmer was a loving husband and father. He loved being around his children and grandchildren and was always available for their numerous concerts, recitals, plays and Boy Scout activities. More recently he has enjoyed seeing his great-granddaughter grow into a toddler.
He was a faithful Christian as a member of the Mt Olivet Methodist Church in Dearborn, Michigan and later Schweitzer Church in Springfield, Missouri. He was always very active in the church life with committees, Sunday school and the food pantry. He was also an avid fan of Marilyn in Joy Pickers and Senior Saints Choir. He was a committed toe tapper as they performed.
Elmer and Marilyn loved to travel and spent most of their retirement years enjoying this passion. He also loved working on "Chug", the model A, with his son Bruce.
His family will remember all of the good times they had with him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Schweitzer Church.
