Obituary

Elmer Franklin Gomes, Jr., 78, Springfield, passed away July 9, 2010 in Cox South. He was born January 4, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Elmer worked most of his life as a pharmaceutical sales representative. He was known as a avid bridge player. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Franklin, Sr. and Lillian Gomes and a son, David. Elmer is survived by his wife, Wilma; a daughter, Donna Wagner and her husband Sean; a brother, Jack Gomes and his wife Lois; a nephew, Kevin Gomes and his wife, GiGi; a niece, Kathy Gentry and her husband, Aaron; and a host of other family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2010 in Hazelwood Cemetery under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
