Elizabeth Sue Mayer, 71, Springfield, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2017 in Mercy Hospital. She was born March 11, 1945 in St. Louis, MO the daughter of William A. and Anna Grace Bales.

Sue worked for many years as a cashier with Bass Pro Shops.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four ½ brothers.

Sue is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, James L. Mayer, Jr.; two sons, James L. Mayer III and his wife, Darla; and John William Mayer; a daughter, Debra Anne Mayer; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren with one on the way.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2017 in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Burial will be held at a later date in Missouri Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Southwest Missouri Humane Society.
