IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elizabeth "Jane"
Ball Sanders
February 27, 1928 – November 21, 2021
Elizabeth "Jane" Ball Sanders, 93-year resident of Springfield passed peacefully on November 21, 2021 from a sudden injury following a fall at home. She was born in Springfield, Missouri February 27, 1928 to Donald Arthur Ball and Lorie Anderson Ball. She attended Springfield schools, the First Congregational Church of Springfield, and graduated cum laude from Drury College in 1949. She belonged to Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and several other organizations.
She was married to William H Sanders in 1950 and divorced in 1965. She was employed by the State of Missouri Welfare Office, the Greene County Chapter of the American Red Cross for 15 years and retired from the Missouri Division of Child Support Enforcement in 1993.
She enjoyed traveling, knitting, sewing, genealogy, playing bridge, fishing, boating and the cabin in Forsyth on Lake Taneycomo. In recent years she watched golf, tennis, and the St Louis Cardinals on TV. She especially loved the many Thanksgivings spent with the Henderson families at the Grovespring, MO farm. This past summer she traveled to Utah to see her granddaughter get married and had a great time. She was the family seamstress always willing to work on hunting clothes, pants, and horse show costumes. Some of her fondest times were spent watching continuous replays of "Dancing with Wolves" at the cabin on holidays. She also had a great time playing poker with her grand kids and their friends, and at the end of the night her chip pile was as big or bigger than everyone else.
She belonged to several organizations through the years: Chapter IA of PEO, Drury Women's Auxiliary, Ozarks Genealogical Society, Friends of Gray/Campbell Farmstead, and "The Bridge Club" with whom she shared many hours of conversations, bridge and traveling both in the States and overseas. She was also a charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother James A Ball. She is survived by her daughter Nancy Henderson (Bill); and son Carrel A. Sanders (Laura). Six grandchildren: Scott Henderson (Jill), Brian Henderson (Katie), Ryan Sanders (Andrea), Lauren Thompson (Rusty), Kyle Sanders, and Travis Sanders. Three great grandchildren: Spencer Henderson, Gage Henderson, Charlie Anne Henderson and another great grandchild due next spring. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Daphne Ball of Glen Ellyn, IL along with many nieces and nephews.
