Elise (Ellie) Wustl Darter was born June 25, 1930 in Asch, Germany. She passed away in Springfield, Missouri Wednesday, June 17, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and beloved husband. She worked for the United States government in Germany as a secretary. Upon coming to the United States in 1959, she resided in Bellevue, Nebraska where she worked for the Bank of Bellevue. She befriended her neighbors, Pete and Susie Darter and through them met Joseph Marvin Darter, and they fell in love. On September 13, 1973, Joe's father, a Methodist minister, married them. They settled in Shell Knob, Missouri and Ellie helped set up the First Bank in Shell Knob in 1974. She worked there for five years and then retired to take care of sick, elderly friends. In March 1993, Joe and Ellie moved to Springfield, Missouri to be closer to medical facilities. They enjoyed life, and the pretty countryside. They couldn't go far since they had their four-legged "kids". Joe was her rock and her life. He was a wonderful husband and father. On June 22, 2006, he passed away in his home after a battle with cancer. Ellie never got over the loss of him and looked forward to joining him in eternity.
