Elda Lorene Penninger Rowland, age 91, was born in Springfield, MO on December 26, 1928.  She passed away on June 20, 2020, after a short illness at Glendale Gardens Nursing Home, where she had been a resident for 3 years.

Elda was united in marriage to Alvia Rowland on May 3, 1947.  She had a double wedding with her twin sister Alda and Ed Storey.  Two daughters, Janice and Janet, were born to her.

She attended Springfield (Central) High School and worked for Lily Tulip/Sweetheart Cup for 37 years until her retirement.

Elda was preceded in death by her husband, Alvia; daughter, Janet; sister, Alda Storey; and brother, Don Penninger.

She is survived by her daughter, Janice Whitney; grandson, Shawn Whitney and his wife, Trish; great-granddaughters, Emma and Isabel; sister-in-law, Nancy Penninger; and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff, nurses and doctors at Glendale Gardens and Regional Hospice for their compassionate and loving care of Elda while she was a resident there.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2020 in Rock Prairie Cemetery, Halfway, MO, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
