Obituary

R. Elaine Tate Elaine Tate of Springfield, Missouri, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2009, in St. John's Hospital, at the age of 79. She was born on September 2, 1930, to Roy and Pauline Little. Elaine was married to her high school sweet heart and joy-of-her-life James Tate, on 4 April, 1949. Elaine spent her childhood and most of her adult life in Springfield where she graduated from high school in 1948. She enjoyed square dancing, trout fishing and was an exceptional cook. Many friends and family members enjoyed her comfort food meals. Kind of heart and with giving spirit, Elaine volunteered with the Springfield Meals on Wheels Program for many years. Following the passing of her father, Elaine was a loving caretaker to her mother, who lived to 101. Left to mourn her passing are her husband, James; and many nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters in Christ, and a host of friends. She will be missed by all who knew her. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 24, in the Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home with Pastor Hubert Lines officiating. Visitation will be from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Friday in the Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the National Avenue Christian Church, 1515 S. National, Springfield, MO., 65804.
