Edwin J. Ballantyne, Jr., age 87 of Springfield, MO passed away on the evening of January 12, 2021 in Nixa, MO.

Ed was born in Springfield on January 6, 1934 to Edwin and Grace. He joined the Navy and ended up a Marine pilot. Ed attended Missouri School of Mines in Rolla where he met and married the love of his life Pat. As a mining geophysicist he lived and worked throughout Australia, Canada, and the United States. In 1967 they adopted their son David. In later years Ed obtained his doctorate and taught finance at Northwest Missouri State University. Ed and Pat retired to Springfield in 1999 where he indulged his passion for golf.

Ed was preceded in death by his beloved wife Pat and is survived by his son David J Ballantyne of Denver, CO.

Private burial with full military honors will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. No visitation is scheduled.
