Obituary

Edward Krischel was born to Rosa Anna and William Henry Krischel on April 11, 1917, in Springfield, Missouri. He attended St. Agnes High School and later the University of Denver where he received a Masters Degree in Accounting. He served 40 months overseas as an enlisted man with the 27th Division in the Pacific during World War II fighting in five major battles. Before his recall to service with the Army, he served 30 years as an Accountant at the Accounting and Finance Center at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado. He spent a year in Saigon from 1968-69. He was married to Leana Krischel (now deceased) for 22 years. During that union, he raised two daughters and three sons, Denise, Dwight and Craig of Colorado, Jay of Oregon and Susan of New York, who all survive him. He is also survived by his wife of 13 years, Nora Krischel, his sister Rose Marie Huggins, and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He loved gardening, swimming and could cut a mean jitterbug on the dance floor and enjoying dancing with the Debonairs after returning to Springfield. He was an active member of Holy Trinity Church and a volunteer at the Kitchen, a homeless shelter, and St. John's Regional Health Center. He was a member of the Elk's Lodge and a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. After cremation under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, visitation will be 9 a.m. and memorial Mass 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Holy Trinity Church with burial in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holy Trinity Church or The Kitchen, Inc.
