Obituary

Edward Clarence Beatty, Jr.

Ed passed suddenly on August 15, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born February 27, 1950, as the oldest son of Edward C Beatty, Sr, and Ann Krier Beatty.

Born and raised in Springfield, Missouri, he also grew up on the farm the family worked on in Halfway, Missouri. Ed was a graduate of Parkview Senior High School in Springfield in the spring of 1968. He married Joyce Ulaine Beatty (Duggins) his wife of 54 years on September 9, 1971. Ed was extremely outgoing and friendly to all. He worked for grocery stores, ran restaurants, and had his own house cleaning company.

Ed loved the Razorbacks, which he supported throughout his adult life, and passed on his love for them with his children and grandson. He was a founding member of the Baxter County Razorback club, participated in the Lions Club, and went to uncountable amounts of football, basketball, and baseball games, in both Fayetteville and Little Rock. He loved to play golf with his brothers, father, son, and others. He loved taking cruises to the Caribbean with his wife. Ed loved to spend time experimenting in the kitchen, baking breads, canning jams and jellies, and smoking meats of all sorts, from brisket to salmon to turkey. No one ever left his house hungry.

He is survived by his son, Jon (Leslie) Beatty of Prairie Grove, AR; their daughter, Katie (Stephen) Ferraguti of Hatfield, PA; their cherished grandson, Gianluca Edward Ferraguti, age 10, his brother Sam (Laurice) Beatty, Stacey (Mark) Owens, and Pete (late Cheri) Beatty of Springfield, Missouri, as well as many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Beatty (Duggins), his parents, Edward and Ann Beatty, his in-laws, EJ and Venita Duggins, his brothers Glenn and Doug, his sister Alicia, and his beloved Great Danes.

Visitation will be held at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield, MO on Thursday, August 20, 2026, 2026 at 9 am. A Rosary Service will follow at 10 am with a short graveside service to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
