Obituary

Edward Keith Burns, known as Ed, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026, leaving behind a life marked by faith, service and love for his family.

From an early age, Ed distinguished himself as a successful high school athlete, developing competitiveness, perseverance, and a work ethic that would continue to shape his life.

Following high school, he answered the call to serve his country by entering the Air Force and serving honorably until 1998.

In 2006, Ed was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. He faced the disease with courage and determination by becoming involved with Relay for life as a 5K participant and guest speaker for the American Cancer Society. By sharing his story he offered hope and encouragement to others affected by cancer.

Throughout his life, Ed remained deeply committed to his faith. God‘s word served as a guiding influence in his life. Also, his father, Ron, shaped the way he approached his responsibilities, relationships, and service to others. His faith was not simply something he professed, but something he saw too live out each day.

Ed wanted to be known by his church family as a friendly and welcoming presence. Those who worshiped alongside him, remember him for his kindness, willingness to help others and having a genuine servants heart. He found meaning in serving others in his community. He never claimed to be perfect, but never stopped striving for it.

Ed married Theresa Fallon Burns on April 4, 1998 and together they shared many years of marriage in life.

Ed is survived by his wife, Theresa Burns (and her son), his mother Barbara Burns, his sister Christina Rycraft, along with her husband Lance Rycraft (and their 3 children), and many other relatives, friends and fellow church members who will remember him and the life he lived. He was proceeded in death by his father Ronald Burns.
