Edith Elizabeth Buchert, age 89, entered eternal rest on February 13, 2026 after a lifetime of faithful service.

Edith served others throughout her life through her work in diabetes education and through music, faithfully playing the organ at Trinity Lutheran Church for over 40 years. She was known for her bright smile, which could light up a room, and for her quiet faith lived out in service to her family, church, and community.

She shared her love through teaching, music, and caring for others. Edith enjoyed traveling and making friends along the way. She also had a fondness for sweet treats, even while carefully reminding you how many carbohydrates were in them.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hal Buchert, and now rests in Christ.

Edith is survived by her three children: Carolyn Combs, David Buchert (married to Robyn Creed), and Jennifer Cannon (married to Peter Generous); and her five grandchildren: Delaney Harris, Taylor Combs, Cayden Combs, Jack Creed, and Seeley Creed.

Family and friends are invited to gather on February 21 at Trinity Lutheran Church for a celebration of life. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., with a funeral to follow at 2:00 p.m.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Springfield Symphony or Lutheran Family Services.
