Obituary

Douglas Pender, 69, Springfield, was born on November 23, 1949 in Jonesboro, AR, the son of Bill and Sally Pender.  He passed away on Monday, December 24, 2018 in Cox Hospital in Springfield.  He graduated from Glendale High School in 1967.   Douglas joined the Army in 1968 and served during the Vietnam Conflict until 1971.  He began his career in Air Traffic Control while in the Army.  After his career in air traffic control, he started Driver's Incorporated in Kansas City, MO, where he worked until his retirement.  After his retirement, he and his wife of 43 years, Perri Lynn (Hendrix) Pender, moved to Cape Coral, FL.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Perri; three uncles; and two aunts.

He is survived by his sons, Michael Pender of Springfield, and Sean and Kelly Pender and their children, Tristan, Ethan, Connor and Chloe, all of Florida; his mother, Sally Pender, of Springfield; brother, Michael O. Pender, of Kansas City, MO; three aunts, Brenda (Jerry) Hufker, Peggy Smith and Bobbie (Bud) Miller; and many cousins.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. with a service beginning at 12:00 p.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.  Graveside services will full military honors will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wreaths Across America, P.O.
