Obituary

Douglas Elliott Peintner was born January 23, 1967 in Pratt, KS to Leonard James and Diana Mae (Heffernan) Peintner.  He was the second of eight siblings and attended St. Joseph Grade School in Shawnee, KS and Immaculate Conception Grade School in Springfield, MO.  He graduated from Kickapoo High School in Springfield, MO in 1985 and went on to study sociology and criminology at Southwest MO State University (MSU), graduating with a bachelor's degree in 1989.  Doug lived a simple lifestyle and was always a nature lover. He enjoyed camping with his friends and always had a generous heart for both people and the stray cats he would adopt.   Doug suffered a motorcycle accident in 2005 and lived his remaining years at Four Seasons Nursing Home in Sedalia, MO.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Diana, and will be dearly missed by his father; sisters Phyllis Wrather, Becky Meyer, Coletta Dudenhoeffer, Leslie Lewis, Michelle Jenkins, Heidi Heitman; and brother Greg Peintner.

Visitation will be Monday, October 2, 2017 from 6 to 7:00 p.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield. Memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Red Cross or your local humane society.
