Dorothy B. (Dottie) Miller, 84, of Springfield, died at Mercy Hospital at 6:15 pm on October 11, 2016 after a short battle with cancer.

She was a member of Downtown Church (St. Paul UMC). She was very active with the Friends of the Library and the Well of Life Food Pantry. Dottie also knitted hats and booties for Newborns in Need. She was a board member of the CCCO.

Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, Buell and Dorcas Boillot and sister, Barbara Hofer.

She is survived by her husband, Fred R. (Bob) Miller of Springfield; son, Richard Miller of Louisburg, KS; daughters Becky Showalter and husband Curt of Gardner, KS and Ellen Grantham and husband Jim of Walnut Grove, MO; grandchildren Amanda and Chris Schroeder, Mike and Holly Showalter, Matt Showalter, Jonathan and Lindsey Vaughan, Jason and Chloe Vaughan, and Jessica and Isaiah Coon; seven great-grandchildren, brother Jim Boillot and wife Phyllis, and five nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 14, 2016 at Downtown Church (St. Paul UMC), with the Reverend Lori Lampert officiating, under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date in Missouri Veterans Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 – 10:45 am on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Downtown Church, Friends of the Library, or the Center City Christian Outreach.
