Dorothy Lee Sturm Thrall, 90 of Springfield passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 in her home. She was born August 17, 1925 to the late Emet Lee and Ida May Lowe Sturm in St. Joseph, MO and was raised in California.

Dorothy married the love of her life Daniel J. Thrall on October 18, 1943 in Belleville, Illinois, having taken the train across the country from California to join Dan where he was stationed. Dot was devoted to Dan, her children and family. She was a true homemaker in every sense of the word, from having Dan's cocktail ready at 5 pm to relocating the family across America every few years because of Dan's job. She could make any place feel like home and managed to keep family treasures along the way. Her needlepoint arts will be treasures forever.

Dorothy once again followed Dan on March 2 and was reunited with him and their daughter, Nancy Lee Walsh and son, Mark Daniel Thrall.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Lynn Noble and husband, Bob; six grandchildren, Brian (Rebecca) Walsh, Becky (Mike) Cunningham, Cari Noble (Doug) Martens, Brad Noble, Cory Thrall and Travis Thrall; eight great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren; many beloved nieces and nephews and her two cats, her "boys".

A celebration of Dot's life will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2016 from 3-5 pm in her home. A private family graveside will be in Maple Park Cemetery.
