Dorothy A. Smith, age 85 of Springfield, MO passed away suddenly on January 15, 2019 at her home.  Dorothy was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force.  She was an owner of Pizza House in Springfield, until retiring from the business in 2008.  Dorothy was active in several community organizations and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her mother, Miriam Sweet Gerkin, and her father, Victor Smith.

Dorothy is survived by her sister, Hazel L. Rekenthaler, Richmond, IL; two nieces, Sandra Lee Sauer, Wander Lake, IL, and Theresa Sue Rekenthaler, Richmond, IL; nephew, Michael Francis Rekenthaler, Delavan, WI; two great-nieces; three great-nephews; one great-great niece; and five great-great nephews.

Memorial service times will be announced at a later date by Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Brighton Cemetery, Brighton, MO.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charities in Dorothy's name.
