Dorothy Ann Rittershouse, age 86, of Springfield, died February 22, 2009 of complications following a broken leg. She was born January 16, 1923 the daughter of James Camden and Mabel Coffelt Hutchison. Dorothy was born and raised in Springfield, MO. She attended Roundtree, Greenwood and graduated from Senior High School before attending Drury College. Dorothy (Hutch) is survived by her three children; daughter, Anne Gonten with whom she had been living, son, Bill and wife Rita, and daughter Becki and husband Don Randolph. She is also survived by a brother James C. Hutchison Jr. and wife Kathy, a sister-in-law Janice Ksara and husband Ed. She was the proud Grandma D to nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews and a host of friends will miss her too. Dorothy had been employed by St. John's Hospital and Homemakers Upjohn. She had been a past member and office holder in the National Federation of the Blind and the Indoor Sports Club and a long time member of the Association of the Blind. She had a passion for music of all kinds, collecting bears and dolls and a love of reading which she continued to enjoy through audio books. A special thank you to Sylvia and all of the staff at Oxford Home Health who helped make the last six years so enjoyable. The family also extends a heartfelt thank you to Select Specialty Hospital staff for their skilled compassionate care this past week. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 26, 2009 at 10 a.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with the Reverend Jim Furnas officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
