Dorothy June Hawkins (Case), a warm, loving mother and wife, died in the early morning hours on June 3, 2023 in Springfield, MO. Dorothy lived a long life centered around her 56-year marriage to Ralph G. Hawkins; raising her family of four children; taking care of her husband and the family household, while also holding down a full-time job as the office manager at First and Calvary Presbyterian Church; and a strong social and church life with many great friends and acquaintances. Dorothy was a long-time member of the MSU Dames Club; the Red Hat Lady Club and was an avid MSU Tent Theater and Bears fan who travelled to several of the NCAA tournaments.
Dorothy was a survivor of breast cancer; Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma; and raising four children in the colorful 1970s. After retirement, Dorothy enjoyed travelling and swing dancing with her husband while enjoying Ozarks country music. Dorothy was also a superhero caregiver to her husband with home hospice till his death due to Alzheimer's disease.
Dorothy was also passionate about family genealogy with decades and countless hours spent creating a wonderful family tree prior to the computer age, with relatives found in England dating back to 1605. Dorothy's genealogical legacy will continue long-after her death with all our relations' lives intricately tied together over time.
Dorothy was born on April 17, 1933 in Arkansas City, KS and lived a long life of just over 90 years. She was able to recently celebrate her birthday with her children and family. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Ralph of Springfield, MO; her mother and father George A. Case and Irene S. Tharpe of Pittsburg, KS; and by her brothers Calvin Case of Winston Salem NC, and Vernon Case of Arkansas City, KS. Dorothy leaves a great family legacy with the Hawkins family tree growing, including 4 children, 13 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren. Her surviving family members include Randy G. Hawkins and Sonya Kozer of Cape Fair, MO, Michael G. and Cathy Hawkins of Springfield, MO, Sherri Kim and Robert Lewis of Walnut Grove, MO, and Christopher B.
