IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Pauline
Harvey
July 25, 1925 – November 19, 2016
Dorothy Pauline Harvey, 91, passed away Saturday, November 19. Dorothy was born in Bado, Missouri July 25, 1925, the daughter of Henry and Minnie Ragsdale. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Harold.
Dorothy is survived by her children Judy, Hal and his wife Paula, and Janet and her husband Mike; five grandchildren, Paulina, Jacob, Samuel, Paul, and Christina.
Growing up on a farm in Missouri taught Dorothy to appreciate hard work and helped develop her life-long love for learning. Dorothy was always asking questions and learning more about the natural world around her. This desire for learning led to her becoming a school teacher in her younger years.
Dorothy graduated from Houston High School after moving there to live with her sister Beatrice and her husband Linville (both deceased). When Dorothy graduated, she moved to Kansas City where she went to work for Pratt Whitney, an airplane manufacturing company during World War II. There she met and later married Harold. When Harold returned from the War, he and Dorothy went to Southwest Missouri State College, now MSU. Dorothy graduated with an Art degree and taught school for several years while the couple moved around the country as Harold pursued his medical degree and training.
When Dorothy and Harold returned to Springfield in 1960, Dorothy became a full-time homemaker. She was very active in the various school and extra-curricular activities of her children. As her children grew, Dorothy became more active in Harold's medical practice, managing his office. She later opened a gift shop, and then she and Harold opened the Pea Patch RV Park in Branson, MO.
Dorothy was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
