Dorothy Louise Hale, age 89, of Springfield, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2016 in Mercy Hospital. She was born in Springfield, MO, the daughter of George William Helfrecht, Sr. and Marie Sophie (Laes) Helfrecht.

Dorothy was a long-time member of St. John's UCC, St. John's UCC-Quilters, Parents Night Out and volunteered at Meals on Wheels.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd Hale; sister, Jean Marie Panhorst; and several nephews and nieces.

Dorothy is survived by her brother, George Helfrecht, Jr.; sisters, Suzanne Lindsey and Nancy Graham, all of Springfield.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 30, 2016 in St. John's UCC with Dr. John White and Pastor Doug Burwick officiating. Burial will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 29, 2016 in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's UCC, or charity of the donor's choice.
