Dorothy L. Gabriel, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, age 81, of Springfield, Mo., passed away at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 7, 2010, in Springfield, Mo. Dorothy, daughter of Marion and Ida Jennings, was born on August 15, 1929, in Springfield, Mo. She was joined in marriage August 15, of 1948 to John S. Gabriel and together they raised seven children. She was known lovingly as "Mimi" to her 21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Agnes and a long time St. Vincent De Paul and Crosslines volunteer. She was preceded in death by her loving and faithful husband of 49 years, John; and her sons, John Phillip and Joseph A. Gabriel. She is survived by Bruce Gabriel, of Sedalia, and children, Matthew, Jennifer, Holly and Deanna; Gary Gabriel, of Lemoore, Calif., and children, Angela, Michael, Ashley, and Joseph; David Gabriel, of Broken Arrow, Okla., and his wife Cindy and children, John David and his wife Lauren; Nathaniel and his wife Dessi; Douglas Gabriel, of Detroit, Mich., and his wife Lori and children, Julian, Rhys, Aidan and Sophia; and Cathy Ball-Kutzner, of Springfield and her husband Farley and children, Laura, Jessica, Rachel, Stephen, Whitney, Regan, and Leah. Also surviving are her siblings, Virginia and Mary, of Kansas City, James, of Humansville, Roberta, of Clever, and Debra, of Springfield. The visitation will be in St. Agnes Cathedral, 533 S. Jefferson, at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 9, with the funeral immediately following at 11 a.m., in St. Agnes Cathedral, offiated by Msgr. Thomas Reidy. Arrangements are under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
