Doris Coats Mitchell of Springfield, MO, died on May 2, 2021.  She was born on Feb. 1, 1929.  Doris was the daughter of Jake and Alice Coats, both deceased.  Also, preceding her in death were her husband, Robert (Bob) Mitchell, beloved spouse of more than 50 years; one son, Robert Mark Mitchell; and her brother, James Norman Coats.  In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Doris owned and operated a children's clothing store for many years.  She was actively involved with her church, St. James Episcopal Church and also volunteered for many years with Mercy (St. John's) Hospital.

Survivors include Mark's widow, Holly, of Fordland, MO; sister-in-law Imogene (Bobbi) Coats; nephew Jim Coats; niece Debby Coats; and great-niece Cara Coats, all of Springfield.

Graveside services will be held at Hazelwood Cemetery on Wednesday, May 12, at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Jos Tharakan officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. James Episcopal Church, 2645 E. Southern Hills Blvd., Springfield, MO 65804.
