Doris Clark Garrison, age 80, died June 13, following a brief illness. Born in Wichita, Kansas, on January 25, 1929, Doris was a twin daughter of Schuyler E. and Maude Clark. In 1935, the family moved to Kansas City, Mo., where Doris attended elementary school, Southeast High School, and Kansas City Mo. Junior College. She graduated from the School of Education at Kansas University in 1950. Having married in 1949, Doris taught school in Tonganoxie, Kan., as her husband completed studies at the University. Returning to the field of education in her later career, Doris earned a master's degree in guidance and counseling and became a secondary counselor in the Springfield Public School system. She served at Reed, Cherokee, and Kickapoo High School before retirement in 1990. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Howard Garrison; and son, Greg. She is survived by son, James Clark Garrison and his wife Carol of Shawnee Kan.; daughter, Gayle Ann McCaleb and husband Jim of Calgary, Alberta; daughter, Julie Beth Steiger and husband Jack of Springfield; and grandchildren, James, Paul, Grace, and Luke Garrison, Katherine McCaleb, Sara and Anna Steiger. She is also survived by her brother, Duane Clark of Titusville Fla.; twin sister, Donna Halliday of Los Altos, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. Doris was a charter and fifty-year member of Covenant Presbyterian Church; a member of PEO, Chapter FT; Delta Kappa Gamma, Epsilon Chapter; and SMMA World Arts Group. She enjoyed travel and adventure with her family and with her long-time friends. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held June 18, at 11 a.m. in Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2441 South Lone Pine, Springfield MO 65804. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant Foundation, Inc., or to the charity of one's choice.
