Doris Laurian (Butcher) Arndt was born November 17, 1937, in Mt. Grove, Missouri. She passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025, in Springfield, Missouri. Her parents were Walter Butcher and Odessa (Moore) Butcher.

In Doris's younger years, she had the lead role in her school play as Sleeping Beauty. She was proud of this accomplishment. In 1955 she graduated from Central High School in Springfield, Missouri. On February 3, 1956 she married her high school sweetheart and football player, Evans Arndt. She was only 15 years old when they met in a movie at the Fox Theater. They were married 67 years.

Since Doris was 8 years old she had dreamed of becoming a secretary. Upon graduating high school she continued her education at Draughon's Business College. She was an amazing woman and despite her hearing disability she earned her secretarial certification. Doris had a successful career working for several Saving and Loan businesses and over 35 years as an executive secretary for Springfield City Utilities. Doris was also an active member of the Springfield Secretary Association.

Aside from her successful career she was a wonderful daughter, wife and mother, as well as a devoted Christian. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School and attending bible studies. Doris also loved to read. She read as many books as she could in her spare time. Doris also enjoyed baking and making candy for her family. She was physically active and won many fitness awards.
