Donna McCain Donna McCain, of Springfield, died on May 14 , 2012 at St. John's Mercy Villa following a long illness. She was born in Springfield on May 17, 1924 to Dean and Mary Sharp. Donna was a graduate of Central High School and St. John's School of Nursing. She met her husband, Frank, while serving as a nurse at the U.S. Navy Hospital in San Diego, CA. They were married for 55 years. Donna was a member of South Street Christian Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She worked proudly as a nurse for many years in the office of Dr. Roland Langston. She then continued her nursing career for Springfield Public Schools. Donna retired from nursing to take on her best "career"ever, as Frank's favorite fishing partner. Donna was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Carol, her parents, two brothers, Bill and Dale, sister-in-law, Katy Sharp, and nephew, Carl Sharp. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Michael Ogden of Columbia, Mo.; her beloved granddaughters and their partners, Katie Rae and Brent Vennard of Volga, SD; and Abby Rae and Kate Mead of Oakland, CA.; beloved step-grandchildren, Gavin and Ansley Ogden of Richmond, VA.; and niece, Glenda Sharp of Springfield. Donna was also a "Grandma by love" to the children and grandchildren of her dear friends, Larry and Carol Moore. At Donna's request, there will be no funeral service. She will be buried at White Chapel Cemetery.
