DONALD WARREN MCNEILL
APRIL 6, 1952 - MAY 17, 2026

Donald Warren McNeill was born on April 6th, 1952 in Springfield, MO to Lyle J and Betty Rose (Taylor) McNeill. Donald attended Pleasant View Elementary and Hillcrest High School in Springfield, MO where he graduated in 1970. He enlisted in the US Army in August of 1970 and was stationed in South Korea. While in the Army he was a Clerk and Personnel Specialist and he was discharged in March of 1972.

After the military, Donald worked with veterans from WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam at the VA Hospital in Columbia, MO. He moved back to Springfield and attended Draughon Business College where he earned his business degree and the award for The Overall Outstanding Student - Day Program. He then went to work at National Oil Company as a bookkeeper & office manager for 10 years. He left that position to help Lyle take care of Betty Rose in their family home in Billings. He was a lifetime VFW member and a member of Zion Primitive Baptist Church where he attended faithfully for several years. He volunteered his time later in life with the Lawrence County Historical Center and the Missouri Veterans Home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle J and Betty Rose; his two brothers, Richard Terry McNeill and Neal McNeill and his niece, Catherine Rund. He is survived by his brother J Rodney McNeill (Barbara) of Reeds Spring and his sister, Jeanne McNeill of Fair Grove, MO. Other survivors are his nephews and nieces: Richard McNeill of Pagosa Springs, CO; Andy McNeill (Stacy) of Walnut Shade, MO; Marti (Brian) Harriss of Columbia, IL; Iain McNeill of Anchorage, AK; Jenny (Aaron) Bush of Nixa, MO; and Scott McNeill of St. Paul, MN. He is also survived by many Great Nephews and Great Nieces as well as his beloved service dog, Gunner.

Donald passed away on May 17th, 2026. He will be remembered for his love of family genealogy, his 1947 Ford panel truck, his love for his nephews, nieces, neighbors & friends, and after his parents died, he was the glue that kept family members together.

There will be a visitation on Friday, July 10th from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. at Zion Primitive Baptist Church, 1523 E. Talmage, Springfield, MO 65803. Graveside services with military honors will be Saturday, July 11th at 10:00 a.m. at McNeill Chapel Cemetery, 15444 Lawrence 1225, Aurora, MO. 65605.
