Donald Lee Jones age 70 of Battlefield, MO passed away at 10:00 AM on July 6, 2023, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. He was born the son of Nola (Winkler) and Leroy Jones in Lindsay, California on February 21, 1953.
He was a member of the Dayspring Church of the Nazarene and the Southwest Missouri Model A Club. He so enjoyed the Model A Club and loved going to group meetings and monthly drives. He loved working on it with his friend, Butch, as well as others. Donald graduated from high school in Mansfield, MO in 1972.
He was an over the road truck driver his entire adult life. After working at some smaller companies, he was hired on at Kraft where he worked until he retired. He drove over two million miles in those years. He married Jan Reed while living in Texas and was transferred to Springfield, MO in the late 90's where they lived until she passed in February 2013. Don met Donna (Crews) Clements at Dayspring Church of the Nazarene, and they were married there on July 26, 2014. They moved to Battlefield, MO and fully enjoyed their life together.
Don is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Donna (Crews) Jones, Battlefield, MO; sister, Connie (Jones) Cornelius, Ava, MO; aunt, Sherry Bogart, OK; nephews, Jeff (Jo) Cornelius and two sons, Mansfield, MO, Kevin (Candy) Cornelius, four sons and one daughter, Seymour, MO, Darrel (Jeri) Cornelius and two daughters, Forsyth, MO; along with many cousins living in Missouri and Oklahoma.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, July 11, 2023, in Dayspring Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. William Hungerford officiating, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hensley Cemetery in Mansfield, Missouri. A visitation will precede the funeral Tuesday from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM in the church.
There will be a lunch provided by Connie's (Don's sister) church family after the burial. It will be at Connie's home in Ava. If you would like to attend, please text 417-576-4700 for the information and to give us a head count.
