Donald Ray Evans was born April 23, 1952 and departed this earthly life on March 27, 2015. When Donnie and his twin sister were nine days old they were adopted by Loyd and Reva Evans of Springfield, Mo. He often referred to that day as the day he won the lottery. He spent the next 18 years in Springfield, graduating from Hillcrest High School in 1970. Upon graduation he entered the US Army. Donnie grew up surrounded by music, and it was his life long career. He excelled at guitar and piano, but played many instruments. It was his good fortune to play behind many well-known artists, such as Ray Price and Mel Tillis. He eventually opened his own business, Evans Music, and provided pianos for countless homes, schools and churches in the Missouri-Arkansas area. After selling his business in 2005, he was looking forward to relaxing and traveling. His health postponed his plans, but he bounced back and spent the remaining years doing exactly what he wanted. Donnie joined Central Christian Church when he was young, and remained devoted to Christ until the end. He loved rejoicing through his music. As an adult, it was Donnie's good fortune to reconnect with his birth family. He never met a stranger and was quick to make friends wherever he went. He will be missed by many. Donnie was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. He leaves to mourn his passing a daughter, Kelly; four grandchildren; three brothers, Dave Harrison, Bill Harrison and Darryl Harrison; three sisters, Linda Becker, Bernice Noriz and twin sister, Dottie Allen; two nephews, Doug Bell and Bradley Harrison. He also leaves behind a lifelong friend, Dan Harpool and his loving companion, Melinda Scurlock. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 30, 2015 at 10 a.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday, March 29, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. A private burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens at a later date.
