Donald Lee Calvin, Sr., 85 of Springfield passed away Friday, April 21, 2023 at Mercy Hospital.

He was born November 15, 1937 in La Russell, Missouri to Jesse Franklin and Lorene Marie (Duncan) Calvin and had 11 siblings. After high school he attained a degree at Missouri Southern in Machine Design and worked for General Electric for 20 years as a machinist and tool maker. He married Carolyn Maxwell on June 28, 1959 in Carthage, Missouri. They had resided in Springfield since 1978. Donald was an Army veteran and a member of Schweitzer Church.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn of the home; son, Donald, Jr. (Becky) of Cincinnati, OH; son, David of St. Louis, MO; and daughter, Michele Sheets (Matthew) of Springfield, MO; six grandchildren, Nicholas (Fern) Calvin, Blake (Danielle) Calvin, Sophie (Will) Daugherty, Payton, Mason, and Trenton Sheets; as well as extended family.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Schweitzer Church with burial to follow in Harvey Cemetery in La Russell, Missouri under the care of Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home.
