IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald (Don)
Angell
May 14, 1972 – March 16, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald "Don" Charles Angell, who departed this life on March 16th, 2025 after an accident on the family farm.
Don was born on May 14th,1972 in Washington, MO. He grew up on a farm in Gerald, MO. It was here that he learned the value of hard work. After attending Owensville High School, he went on to earn a BS in Business Administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia from 1990-1994. While attending Mizzou he was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity (FIJI) and made lifelong friends.
Don had a distinguished career in the financial services industry. He was General Manager for MetLife when he moved to Springfield in 1997. In 2001, he became a Partner with New York Life and in 2009 a Senior Partner. He received numerous awards throughout his 27 years in the industry, including Partner of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Top Gun Award, but his biggest reward was helping others.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Kristen. Six precious children: Hunter, Hudson, Harper, Hope, Harlow, and Hattie. Mother Connie Luther and Stepfather Les Luther. Brother Dustin Angell. Nieces Aubrey, Olivia, Coralynn, Zoey, Everleigh, Lynlee, and Kaley. Nephews Steven, Merrick, and James. Joe Copeland and Johnnie Copeland families, Hare and Robinson families and many loving relatives and friends. Don was preceded in death by his father, Charles Angell and Grandparents, Don and Bernice Copeland.
In addition to his love for helping others, Don was a member of the Springfield Sertoma Club for over 20 years helping raise money for local children's charities. He valued the camaraderie this group brought to his life. Don also had a passion for farming. He loved getting up at the break of dawn to take care of his animals.
Don was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend. A man of unwavering integrity and a heart full of love. He was a role model to us all. He taught us the importance of hard work, kindness, and family. Always putting his family first, he brought joy and laughter wherever he went. His sense of humor and dad jokes will live on in the memories we share. Don was a true optimist and had the ability to talk to anyone. Above all else, Don loved being a Father, so you would often find him cheering on the kids at their events, telling the best stories, going on a golf cart ride or grilling, and he had a way of making every moment special.
We are forever grateful for the time we had with Don. While March 16th was the end of his physical life here on earth, it is the beginning of eternity for him, and a continuation of his legacy that will live long after him.
A memorial service will be held at Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Springfield, MO on March 29th, 2025. Visitation will be held at 2PM with a service following at 3PM. The family will hold a private burial.
